We’re all waiting for the new Nintendo Switch console, but so far, Nintendo is keeping the information under wraps.
However, some information managed to get leaked, and we finally know whether the new console will be backward compatible with the previous generation.
Switch 2 will be compatible with Switch games, leaks claim
Backward compatibility is a major selling point for gamers since many want to move away from the next-gen systems but keep their library of games.
If you’re a Nintendo fan, we got some news coming from XDA Developers, as Switch 2 will be compatible with Switch games, as leaks claim.
This information comes from a Chinese website called BiliBili, and allegedly the insider source has revealed some information about the upcoming console. It says the following:
The card slot of Switch 2 is backward compatible with Switch 1 physical cartridges!
Second-generation cassettes do not support first-generation consoles
It seems that cartridges from Switch will work on Switch 2, however, Switch 2 games won’t work on the older console, which is expected.
While this information hasn’t been confirmed yet, it would be great to see that you can continue playing your favorites on a next-gen Switch console.
Sadly, there’s not much information about Switch 2, but Nintendo allegedly showed off Switch 2 during Gamescom 2023.
We also heard rumors that Switch 2 will be on par with Xbox Series X, but this is a bold claim that still needs to be confirmed.
