According to the latest reply to a post on X by leaker XpeaGPU, Nvidia is reportedly set to make the announcement of RTX 5080 and 5090 at the same time. If the leaker’s words are true, the details about the upcoming graphics cards will be out the same day.
The announcement of the upcoming Nvidia RTX 5080 and 5090 could be on the same day
Earlier to this, reports were hinting that Nvidia could announce one of its new GPUs before the end of this year. If that goes on to be the case, the RTX 5090 would easily make it to our best GPU roundup. However, this is the first time we’ve heard the company will announce both RTX 5080 and 5090 on the same day.
The recent claim comes from prominent GPU leaker @XpeaGPU who replied to a post by another leaker @kopite7kimi. The X user kopite7kimi mentioned that Nvidia could announce the RTX 5080 earlier than the 5090.
However, replying to the post, XpeaGPU added that RTX 5090 and 5080 should be announced at the same time. The leaker further added that Nvidia could separate the availability of both GPUs by a few weeks.
For those uninitiated, Nividia followed the same pattern with the RTX 4080 and 4090 GPUs. Both GPUs were announced on the same day, but RTX 4090 was available first followed by 4080 after a few weeks.
Let’s not forget that previously XpeaGPU has also claimed that the Nvidia RTX 5080 outperforms the 4090 at ray tracing. Besides these claims, other rumors are also doing rounds on the internet. For example, the RTX 5090 will be the only GPU Nvidia will announce in 2024, and more.
We urge you to take the rumors around the Nvidia RTX 5080 and 5090 announcements with a grain of salt. Nvidia hasn’t confirmed anything yet, so you’ll have to wait for official confirmation. If there’s any official word in the future, we’ll update you with a separate article.
