Microsoft to soon add an AI theme generator in the Edge browser

Microsoft is planning to add an AI-based theme generator in the Edge browser. It is not new to say that the company is running the ongoing AI race at an absolute pace. It has been adding new AI features in almost all its products including Microsoft Edge.

While you can access the Copilot chatbot from the sidebar of the company’s first-party web browser, it seems Microsoft is planning to add a new feature powered by AI.

Microsoft Edge will soon get an AI theme generator

A new listing added to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website spotted by Neowin mentions that Microsoft Edge will soon get an AI theme generator.

In the new listing, Microsoft explains what Edge browser’s AI theme generator will be like.

Microsoft Edge will include an AI theme generator, that allows users to input a text prompt and generate a series of images to preview as browser themes. Applying the theme includes setting the generated image on the Edge new tab page, and applying the image’s dominant color to the browser frame.

Microsoft further explains that there’s a provision to limit the use of AI theme generators in the Edge browser. Admins who oversee Microsoft Edge for companies/organizations can restrict the use of the theme generator using the AIGenThemesEnabled policy.

It is worth noting that the rollout of AI theme generators is scheduled for June. However, there’s no mention of an exact rollout date by the company. In January, Microsoft added a similar feature in Teams. The feature allows users to create AI-generated backgrounds when attending Teams video meetings.

Let’s not forget that the Edge browser already let users set themes of their choice for years now. However, the AI theme generator will be an interesting addition as it would power users to set customized themes in the Edge browser.

It won’t be wrong to say that Microsoft has been constantly improving the Edge browser for its users. More recently, the Redmond giant updated Microsoft Edge to fix two security vulnerabilities and added an internet speed tester.

What do you think about the upcoming AI feature in Microsoft Edge? Will you use it when it is available? We’d love to hear your thoughts, please comment below.
