If you are a Google Chrome user, it’s time to update the browser as the latest version patches a newly spotted vulnerability, CVE-2024-4671.

The vulnerability, traced to the browser’s Visual Components, was reported to Google on May 7, 2024, and found to be critical. Google marked it as a High severity vulnerability, according to the official blog post. So, you should take immediate action!

Google Chrome’s stable channel version that includes a patch for CVE-2024-4671 is 124.0.6367.201/.202 for Windows and MacOS and 124.0.6367.201 for Linux. The update is being gradually rolled out and should be available to all in the coming weeks.

To update Google Chrome, launch the browser > click on the ellipsis near the top right > select Help > then choose About Google Chrome > let the browser install the latest available version > relaunch Chrome.

Google has yet to share more information about the CVE-2024-4671 vulnerability on Chrome or how it affects the browser and users. However, it should be available once the majority of the users update to the latest browser version.
